I spent a good part of my early married years taking care of my husband and family. I was always plenty smart, but I hadn’t turned those abilities into any sort of work. There came a point, however, where we really needed to dig deeper in order to get ahead in life. I went shopping for work suits for women and created a resume. The hardest part was convincing people I was right for the job when I didn’t really have experience. Because I was confident and well-spoken, however, I was able to land a really good job, with room to grow.
