I’m sure I heard the words, “Always be ready for stormy times,” at least a few hundred times growing up. My father spoke such wisdom more than the rest of my family; probably because he grew up very poor and learned to work for all he had. This is why my work ethic is what it is. And also why I’ve prepared myself for difficult financial times — such as those we’re seeing today — with a means to get by. If I need a quick loan based on my paycheck, I have an account up and ready. Although my financial ship is in fairly good shape, it never hurts to be prepared.
