My manager has always been a rather remote figure, and while I always found him to be a really interesting man, I was rather afraid to approach him in a friendly way.  He seemed so intimidating up until recently.  All of that changed last week when I admired a series of shell casings that he has on display behind a glass shelf in his office.  He became very animated and started telling me more about his trench art collection.  It was totally fascinating to learn so much about the rich history of these pieces, and I now feel like I understand my manager so much better.
